Book Review: And Everything in Between by Bethany Meyer

Book Review: And Everything in Between by Bethany Meyer

Why yes, this is the second review of a book by Bethany Meyer this year, and yes, I had the opportunity to read an Advance Reader Copy of this one too. (Here’s the required disclaimer that even though I received the book for free for review, all opinions expressed henceforth are entirely my own.) And yes, this one is as good as DragonFire and Other Nonsense.

What is And Everything in Between about?

Wick and Archer have collected Heather Stones and battled dragons—but even amid the clamor of survival, quiet conflict finds its way in.

Brothers struggle to form a bond under the thumb of their controlling father.

A failed play forces two young leshy to face their uncertain futures and the expectations that await them there.

Trapped in his hometown, Archer encounters an odd, generous girl that he just can’t ignore—but what does she want with him?

From Wick’s first taste of cinnamon to Archer’s first fall, Everything In Between is a collection of moments, of memories and dreams, of the everyday aches and triumphs of becoming.

Book Review: Sailing Magic by Order of the Pen Press

I haven’t reviewed an anthology in a while, but while at Realm Makers I finally picked up a copy of Sailing Magic from Order of the Pen Press! This is an anthology that I’ve been really interested in since before it came out–in fact, I’d intended to submit a story to it myself but didn’t get around to writing one in time–and it was just as fun as I’d hoped!

Book Review: Timely by The Phoenix Fiction Writers

Book Review: Timely by The Phoenix Fiction Writers

Honestly, this was probably my least favorite PFW anthology thus far. Still a 5-star read, just not quite beyond 5 stars as previous anthologies have been. Timely is, as the title suggests, themed around the concept of time (which is how I finagled it onto my CG comp titles list, lol) and it features two guest authors in addition to the PFW contributors (three guests, if you count the fact that Kyle Robert Shultz is no longer part of the Phoenix Fiction Writers).

The first few stories were great. The Clockwork Toymaker was super Continue reading “Book Review: Timely by The Phoenix Fiction Writers”

Book Review: Of Myth and Monster by The Phoenix Fiction Writers

Book Review: Of Myth and Monster by The Phoenix Fiction Writers

PFW is releasing another anthology, so you know I jumped on it. I’m super thankful to have gotten another of their ARCs, and this one is quite possibly my favorite yet. It’s definitely their best anthology yet, and if they keep improving their quality at this rate I’m going to have to create a six-star rating or something. XD Anyway, into the actual review. (And here’s the necessary disclaimer that even though I got an ARC I wasn’t required to give a positive review and this is all my honest opinion.) Book Review: Strange Waters by Phoenix Fiction Writers

Book Review: Strange Waters by Phoenix Fiction Writers

The Phoenix Fiction Writers released a new short story anthology on Saturday, and I was fortunate enough to get to read an ARC! If you follow me on Goodreads you’ve probably already seen this review, but I’m super excited to share my thoughts on the collection here, as well. So without further ado, the review!
