Character Development Resource Round-Up

Character Development Resource Round-Up

Hey writers. I come today bearing a gift: A collection of resources to help out with character development. I’ve sorted it into categories so that you can easily find what you’re looking for (or just easily sort out what’s what), and I’ve collected here many of the posts I’ve found over the years and saved to my Pinterest boards (you can find my account here if you’d like to see some of the other articles I’ve saved on other aspects of writing, or if you’d like to see my storyboards/character boards/etc., and here are my Writing Tips: Characters and Characters: Creation boards if you’d like even more tips on character development). Favorite Writing Quotes

So we’ve reached the middle of November, and for those of us doing NaNoWriMo, it’s quite possible we need some encouragement. I know I do. He talks about the main aspects of writing – characters, setting, and plot – and what he calls “the box,” which I haven’t gotten to yet. Continue reading “Writing Resource Roundup”

Writing Terms & Abbreviations

Writing Terms & Abbreviations

I use a lot of writing abbreviations, because they’re a lot faster than writing out whole phrases. I have abbreviations for a lot of my story titles, as well, because writing out a full title takes too long. Take, for instance, my recent short story Sea Glass & Pressed Flowers. That’s a mouthful, right? (Or fingerful?) So I shorten it to SG&PF. It’s not very pretty, but it gets the job done. But what do common writing terms and abbreviations mean? I hadn’t even heard of the majority of these shortened terms until Continue reading “Writing Terms & Abbreviations”
